The Programming Assistance Center (PAC) is a support center for students taking early programming classes in the Computer Science (CS) and Information Technology (IT) curriculums. Students can recieve help on assignments from the class TAs or from peer tutors who have taken similar courses in the past. We're not here to do your programs for you, but we will help you with finding bugs and with helping you understand what you need to make progress on your program.

The PAC is free to use for students. We are supported by the Computer Science department and the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

The PAC is staffed by undergraduate and graduate students who have had experience using one or more programming languages in other parts of their careers. All PAC staff members are those that have performed well in the classes they are now supporting.

Our hours are usually:

  • Mon: 9 - 5pm
  • Tues: 9 - 5pm
  • Wed: 9 - 5pm
  • Thurs: 9 - 5pm
  • Fri: 9 - 5pm
  • Sat: Usually closed
  • Sun: Sometimes 2 - 5pm

Our hours vary depending on the time of the year. As the semester progresses, the PAC will stay open later to help with the increased demand. The PAC will be closed with there is no school (curtailed operations, holidays, etc).

We are located in Kingsbury Hall, room N216.

Services Offered

Drop-In Help

Whenever the PAC is open, you can drop in and recieve guidance from our peer tutors and TAs. Drop-in help is heavily utilized and is only available in short 10 minute bursts.

This option is only for those that feel like they need more conceptual assistance. Tutoring is for long term help and the tutors will not provide assistance on individual projects or programs.

Besides being a place that you can go to get help with assignments, the PAC can also be a great place to work as a PAC consultant. If you have any thoughts of going into teaching have a real nack for programming that you want to share with others, we would love to talk with you! Email us at pac@cs.unh.edu.

Arvind Narayan is the PAC Director and is an instructor in the Computer Science Department. You can contact him through the PAC email address, pac@cs.unh.edu
